Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says he vetoed an anti-transgender bill that would've prohibited physicians in the state from providing gender-affirming "procedures for trans people under age 18 because it would be 'vast government overreach' and an 'overbroad and extreme' measure.

Science teaches us that all humans are humans, gay people are gay, and that transgendered people are transgender. It teaches us that we should accept these people for who they are, and that there is nothing wrong with them. Science teaches us Compassion, and Governor Hutchinson is a student of science.

We have real issues in this country. Enough pandering to a tiny minority. We have wasted far to much time and money on the gay community considering what a small % of the population they are they have had more than share of attention and resources. They act like an only spoiled child.

Theo Stevenson
Theo Stevenson Degi Síðan síðan
@M18 Hellcat what do you mean by “I think what I believe”? Also gender dysphoria is literally the issue... ask a psychologist... dysphoria is what makes someone trans (the discomfort with the things making someone’s sex instead of gender such as voice, primary and secondary characteristics, name, pronouns, ect).

@Theo Stevenson I think what I believe is the only issue.

@M18 Hellcat Yes this issue being gender dysphoria... one seperate point is that transgender people’s physical brains have been studied (densities and sizes of certain lobes) and have found that their brains are more similar to their gender that sex (eg trans men’s brains are more like cis men’s brains).

Look I'm 100% democrat, and disagree with 90% of most republicans as I believe they are hateful people stuck in the past, wishing they could go back in time to where discrimination and hate against all people that aren't white is acceptable. And I'm right about that. It's true. When it comes to this transgender thing, I believe all human beings should have the same access to health care PERIOD. But I WILL NOT ACCEPT boys walking around acting like girls, and boys getting surgery to look like girls playing the same sports are competing against real females in sports. Males are stronger than females and it gives these dudes an unfair advantage. If we keep going this route, 10 years from now, it will be OK for a man to hit a woman as long as he has a wig and lipstick on. Because right now a boy that puts a wig on and gets his thing chopped off can join a boxing, or wrestling team as a girl. So what's the difference? I REFUSE to agree with that BS. But health care? That should be a human right. But all sex changes or related activities should not be paid for by the government, those medical bills should be paid for out of pocket. Just fine tune the bill, drop the discrimination and hate, and I would support that bill also.

@Theo Stevenson Thank you for answering. The problem that I see, is that the MESSAGE is not inclusive to *choosing BACK* to where they WERE... *if one wants to....* Want to get most e-v-e-r-yone on the same page ? Then INCLUDE that message. Simple. THAT message is completely absent. It shouldn't be.
Theo Stevenson

@* Gblueslover no... if someone was a detransitioner I’d respect that, you can’t choose your gender. I don’t care if someone is trans or cis, you are who you are, you don’t choose to be trans. I’ve had friends who thought they were gay and later realised that they were not... I’ve know people who thought that they were cis until adulthood when they realised they were trans... I used to think that I was cis and straight, I wish I was (would’ve saved a lot of bullying) but I am gay and trans, I didn’t choose... everyone has the right to be who they are.

@Theo Stevenson Oh please... In your world, you don't seem to me like the type of person who'd respect or accept someone who changed their mind whenever they WANTED TO. You're one of those "You CAN'T go back but you can only come in" types. I'd submit to you the hypocrisy of the lack of "Freedom of CHOICE" you pushed *in the first place...* So just simply answer... You'd personally be PISSED if someone "WANTED to" change their mind back ? Easy yes or no question here.
Theo Stevenson
Theo Stevenson Degi Síðan síðan
@* Waterlec I don’t see how anyone’s sexuality is any concern of yours unless you’re dating them (also sexualities don’t change that much)... as for gender, yes, there are gender fluid people but most people who realise their gender stick with it (with the small exception of detransitioners). Also trans people have existed for a long time, it’s not new, they were just less seen as it was unsafe to come out... As for a third gender, many native people around the world have had a third gender, I think that Native Americans may have. It is similar to when people said that being gay was ‘new’, it is not... many animals can be homosexual and there was a couple in Egypt who were believed to be homosexual around mid 2000BC.
* Waterlec

@Theo Stevenson Wrong... Because GUESS WHAT... with these "New concepts" of people's self identifications... This ALSO MEANS they CAN CHANGE their sexual and/ or gender identification *AS OFTEN AS THEY WANT‼️* 👈That is a FACT ! MY question to *Is THAT gonna piss you off ?*

I agree that it is allot easier for people to transition genders at a young age but what happens when a child makes irreversible changes to their mind and body when they are young just to grow up and figure out that transitioning was a mistake?? Seems like they would be worse off in that situation rather than waiting until their mind is fully developed and they have a better understanding of who they are as a human being before making the irreversible decision to transition during their adolescence. I don’t really see this as an unreasonable idea, your mind isn’t even fully developed until around 23-24. Children are starting transition as young as 5. Your telling me that a 5 year old has the mental capacity to fully understand their gender and how that will affect them in their future. I could barely tie my own shoes at 5 and we are expected to believe that children and even young teens know exactly who they are and who they will be when they are an adult. Think about who you were as a person 10 years ago, what your wants/desires were, your dreams/goals, sensibilities, attitudes, thoughts/emotions, etc... and then think about who you are now. I can’t speak for everyone but I was completely different person 10 years ago. I really don’t think this Bill is rooted in transphobia. More rooted in protecting children from making life altering decisions before they are old enough to fully grasp those decisions. Anyway I’m not trying to attack anyone, I just think the risks out way the benefits when talking about transitioning children. Lastly I’m not at all against people transitions to their preferred gender as long as they are an adult and can fully comprehend the gravity of the decision they are making.

I commend him for this. Imagine that: basing your decision off of listening to the people directly affected, etc. On a separate note: He, along with Mitch McConnel and other republicans are wagging fingers at corporations and telling them to stay out of politics. That's a laugh! Oh, you mean these corporations that you usually praise for being involved in YOUR politics and funding? Republicans love capitalism until it doesn't agree with them. That same logic applied to when a certain reality star surprised everyone and all of the polls when they won the presidency - heard next to nothing about voter fraud and any that was talked about was dropped soon thereafter (most democrats took the defeat, even if things seemed fishy). However, when Joe Biden wins the presidency - just as the polls predicted - suddenly it's a fraud even though there is next to no evidence of wide spread voter fraud. The double standard of politicians is so blatant and ridiculous, yet as a people, we just complain about it and take it.

Blue for boys and pink for girls is the underlying problem. Not all boys have a masculine personality and not all girls have a feminine personality. The sexual organs are not the problem, it’s societies gender specific roles. Girls are assigned dolls and boys are assigned action figures, some boys prefer dolls and some girls prefer action figures, some prefer both... gotta start letting people be people and stop trying to tell boys to be like all the other boys and girls to be like all the other girls. Sexual reassignment surgery only superficially changes the persons role in society and does nothing to solve the underlying problem which is that society is completely wrong about gender roles.

@Doc G decreasing suicide rates in transgender children... gender dysphoria almost always get much worse for trans people during/after puberty without being able to stop it long enough to go on cross sex hormones or even after the age where puberty blockers are effective being able to start hormone therapies can save kids lives, even just knowing that you could get them in a year, or two, or three, or however long until the age of 16, that hope keeps them going, for some 18 seems to far away, too many of their big early life experiences are filled with dysphoria (such as high school being bullied, deadnamed, going to the school ball but having a voice as high as the heavens when you’re a trans boy) and that can be too much for someone to handle a lot of the time.
